Won this lovely Max Factor Solid Pendant at an auction (a REAL auction [New Laugh] ) yesterday and was wondering if M.F. still makes solids?

Also, if it IS vintage, does anyone (Ann) know it's release date or year of manufacture? It is absolutely MINT in the original box and even the solid perfume looks brand new. [Roll Eyes] [Confused]

Again, hope this one shows up. I've "scanned" it both in the box and with the top off.

Thanks in advance for any help you can find. [Smile]

Good find,

The name of the solid is Flower Song.
I don't have the date but will see if I can find it.

How did you know that? And why is the perfume so perfect? I could tell I was the first one to ever open the package, but would that keep the solid so pristine?

Again, you're really good!

Thanks so much! [Wink]

IMHO the older solids were made better and closed tightly keeping the solid perfume fresher. If the solid you have was kept in its box, in a dark dry place and never opened it should be fresh.

We have a EL youth Dew solid 1968 that is as fresh as some of the newer ones.

Maybe with the newer closures EL has stared using they will stay fresh but kind of doubt it.

Your humble opinion is right on the mark. It was practically vacuum sealed as I had to really work the lid off. [Eek!] Also, it was kept in a very dry house, as there were HUGE dehumidifiers in every room! Probably also kept in a drawer, as she had 25 floor to ceiling cabinets full of costume jewelry and one (1) solid perfume. Had to wait 6 hours for it to go up for auction! [Frown] However, I now believe it was worth the wait!

Thanks again, Ann...really appreciate your efforts. [Wink]

Michele:
Your solid "Flower Song" is shown in Roselyn Gerson's 1st book Purse Accessories , page 92, bottom right.

Ann:
Please share your secrets with us - how do you know that this solid is from 1976 ?

Hi Astrid -

You're right! It's below the Mussel solid! I missed it because the pages were stuck together with Strawberry Jam. [Embarrassed] [Eek!] [Embarrassed]

Can you tell I go through these books quite often? [New Laugh] [New Laugh]

The date, though, is Ann's secret, I do believe. Amazing lady! [Wink]

Thanks, Astrid, for helping me find page 92!

Again, Ann to the rescue! Just found it and now must start searching for the other 5 in the collection.

Or maybe I'll just be happy for a little while with one special pendant. [Wink] Time will tell.

Thanks again, Ann. And your Las Vegas Display is incredible! Keep the pictures and ideas coming! [Smile]
