Hi,

Thanks for replying!
In fact, do you know what was the original retail price of this piece? It seems like it is overly expensive as per the listing price at ebay.

Thanks again!

Hi again !
The original retail was 250,- US $ and it was sold in 1999. Not so long ago but it is a very exquisite piece. Some solids you can find very often and for some of them you can search for years. Some are very popular and some are never looked at [Smile] .
Do you know Roselyn Gersons book - Estee Lauder solid perfume compact collection ? I think it' s a good help for beginners and there are nice pictures in it although there are a lot of solids missing.

Greetings !

Michaela

Hi there,
As per 'the book' the original retail price of the Carousel was $250. If you check the "Solid Values" on this site and search Lisa's database the selling price over the last nine months on eBay has been from $566 to a whopping $920 ! So at the moment the one currently on eBay is looking 'reasonable' taking this into account. Seems like the circus theme solids are definately popular. You never know, maybe you could pick up a bargain if one is listed with a good 'buy it now' price or get lucky as a few people have picked up some 'great deals', another option would be to see if anyone has one they would like to trade?
Good luck! [Big Grin]

Costing only USD250 for Carousel in 1999?! [Confused] That is a TRULY GOOD DEAL!!! In your opinion, is USD595 a "reasonable" price? Or anyone here has a spare one to trade or selling off?

Kindly let me know. I want Carousel badly! [Frown]

Since roughly May of last year the Carousel has sold 6 times on ebay with an average price of $665.00.

I sold my Carousel privately to someone for over $800. I decided since I had no other circus pieces, I really didn't need it.

Another carousel has surfaced on eBay :http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=600&item=2152813367 the first one is at $660 reserve not met! [Eek!]
It is a beautiful piece - sadly (and gladly for my purse) I'm not collecting the circus theme solids unless my numbers come up on lotto! [Big Grin] [Big Grin] - one can but hope!
