UNCLE BOB AND THE SHOWGIRL

It was the time of day when the sun appears to sit gently on the edge of the ocean, its rays gradually disappearing into the horizon behind a reddish orange sky, bringing with it the onset of night.

The sand was still warm underfoot and crabs scuttled back and forth as Lola walked along the shoreline breathing in the balmy sea air. She had never felt happier. In the distance she could hear someone calling her name. 'Lola' 'Lola!' She carried on walking..........'Lola, Lola! Lola Copacabana!'
'LOLA!' the voice became more insistent. 'Can you come and open the door!'

Lola woke up, startled by the ringing of the door bell. 'I'm coming! I'm coming! Keep your hair on. Can't you wait a minute!'

She wrapped the thick pink towelling robe tightly around her curvacious body and slipped tiny feet into furry warm slippers. 'Morning Lola' Postman Pat leered. A toothy smile covered his face from ear to ear as he eyed her hungrily. 'Aren't you gonna offer me a litle hot toddy?' Lola eyed him dispassionately. 'On your bike Postman Pat! But before you go, what's that brown package with all those blue airmail stickers? Presume it is for me otherwise you wouldn't be ringing on my door, would you?' 'Sign here' Postman Pat answered defensively. 'Just your name on the dotted line. That'll do nicely, thanks very much!'

'Well' Lola thought, 'It had better be something special to get me out of bed at this time of the morning! No-one in their right mind gets up at this unearthly hour!' She snuggled back under the warm duvet, oblivious to the snow that now lay piled high outside. Curiously she began to examine the brown paper package.

'America!' she exclaimed out loud. 'America?' But I don't know anyone in America!' She tore at the brown paper wrapping before letting out a squeal of delight. 'Oh my God! This is soooo beautiful! This is perfect................This is............' She looked at the silk label delicately hand sewn inside the silk and lace bustier.............'This is my size tooo! Who on earth?'

A small white envelope adorned with a single red silk rose lay beneath the white tissue paper. She opened it nervously, her fingers trembling with excitement.

It read: DEAREST LOLA,
LOLA COPACABANA,
THIS IS YOUR 'BIG BOB'
WHO SMOKES HAVANNAS...............

I will be sending my private jet to pick you up darlin,
Remember to wear that lovely frothy piece of lace that I sent. We are going to have one heck of a time together!

Lola thought of Uncle Bob. She remebered him as a big cuddly bear type. Not the usual teddy bear kind of man, more like, like a panda bear. Yeah, that was it. He reminded her of a panda bear with those big arms and fluffy body. Yes she could curl up in those arms. Especially when they were full of hundred dollar bills. Uncle Bob, Lola thought, I will be on that plane.

The black stretch limo arrived at Lola's apartment that evening to take her to Heathrow Airport. She could feel the Chauffeur's eyes on her statuesque figure as he carried the luggage to the car. Lola knew she looked good, even with a little mileage on her. As the limo wove its way through London's rush hour traffic, she saw the Chauffeur ogling her in the rearview mirror, so she gave him her biggest, brightest, showstopping smile ... oh no! he almost sideswiped the car next to them! Lola just smiled contentedly, knowing that she still had "it."

As the limo pulled into Heathrow, Lola thought she saw a Lear jet taxing down the runway towards a private hanger.

'I could get used to this!' Lola smiled to herself as she was ushered through customs and then onto the waiting jet. 'Wow' she exclaimed out loud, unable to contain her excitement. A thickly piled carpet covered the floor, the whole cabin transformed into a scene straight out of a Hollywood movie. Chaise longues covered in leopard skin with matching armchairs, low slung coffee tables, and in the centre of the 'room' a table of heavy glass with a huge centre piece of cut glass crystal filled to the brim with pale pink roses.

Lola stood transfixed, her eyes unable to absorb such opulence. She WAS on a plane wasn't she! But this! This was unbelievable.

A slight cough behind her brought her back to reality. 'Would you like to see your sleeping quarters?' the handsome steward asked, guiding her to another door and opening it for her to enter.

She sank down on the four poster bed unable to take in everything that she was experiencing. Satin sheets, a negligee draped across plumped up pillows, and.............

The Captain's voice alerted her. 'Lola, Lola Copacabana...... We will be taking off in a couple of minutes. Please make yourself comfortable! Champagne and caviare will be served shortly!'

Lola relaxed in the wide armchair, her head resting back on the soft cushion. 'Well' she thought to herself. 'This is surely different from working in that sleazy strip joint!' Her mind wandered back in time to their first meeting. Big Bob, and his Havanna..............

When Lola met Big Bob (for those of you who dont know Bob is Lilianes Panda) she was working in Goo Goo Dolls Exotic Mens Club.
This was early on in her career, long before she became a famous dancer at Folies in Paris.
A friend of Big Bob's, Billy the Rhinestone Cowboy(another panda type of guy) paid for a lap dance. What a dance it turned out to be. Lola took out one of Big Bobs Havannas and when she was finished Big Bob was like a melted ice cream cone.
He offered to see her after her shift and she accepted. My my did they have a time. She always remembered Big Bob as a high roller. A whale as the casinos would term them.
From that night on anytime Big Bob was in town she cancelled all plans and accompanied him wherever he went.
As she had gotten older they had drifted apart. This meeting was hopefuly going to rekindle a grand old relationship.

Lola very carefully applied her favorite lipstick, an outrageous shade of orange called "Mango Tango," and drowned herself in her favorite perfume, "Beautiful," because she thought, "Lola, you are beautiful!" Just then, the plane's Steward came out of the cockpit and, after an admiring glance, Lola thought, asked her to sit down and fasten her seat belt. He said, "If you look out the window, you'll be able to see the spectacular lights of Las Vegas as we make our approach. Lola caught her breath as lights, millions of them, sparkled like white diamonds against the black desert floor. Ooooh, thought Lola, this is going to be fun!

The landing was thankfully smooth, and as the plane taxied toward a secluded hanger, Lola saw a big, burly guy standing in front of a big, white ... it looked like ... oh, no, an SUV!!! Oh, well, she would have preferred a limo, but she was not one to complain, now was she?

As Lola stepped off the plane and descended the steps, her stilleto heel caught the end of the riser. She lost her balance, plunging forward, but Big Bob was there to break her fall. As she fell into his arms, he gave her a big bear hug. Grinning, he said, "Welcome to Las Vegas, baby."

Lola melted in his arms. He felt so good, sooo strong, and soooooooo..... 'You're looking good baby' Big Bob grinned. 'Ya don't know how good it is to see ya again! It's been a long time Lola. Too long! Now let's get movin to the Palace!' 'The Palace?' Lola gasped, 'like, like Buckingham Palace!!' Big Bob laughed out loud. 'Honey, I can see we're gonna have a great time. Gonna show ya all the sights and I just luve those little wise-cracks of yours. They sure crease me up!'

'This is fantastic!' Lola exclaimed as Big Bob weaved his way in and out of the traffic. So many hotels, so many twinkling lights and so many bright neon signs which seemed to twist and turn stretching upwards into the night sky.

'Here we are Honey! Our own little Palace. Now I know you're jus gonna luv it here and I'm gonna show you Big Bob, Big Time!'

Lola sighed!! The suite was tooo beautiful to describe. Big Panda's eyes seemed to bore right through her as she lay back on the bed totally exhausted with excitement. She suddenly found herself thinking of Paris, but Las Vegas was no Champs Elysees! She thought of her Blubell friends (the girls she used to high kick with)and the fun they used to have.

'Honey, get yourself some rest. We got plenty of time to see the sights and before I take you to the Strip.' Lola sat bolt upright! 'THE STRIP? Big Bob, did I hear you right? You're going to take me to THE STRIP?!''

Lola could feel the tears welling up in her eyes. All the years trying to forget working in those sleazy Strip Joints in London, and now! This is what he wanted her to do in Las Vegas! She tried not to let Big Bob see her disappointment. It had all been too good to be true. What had she been thinking of..........................!

"The Vegas Strip is where all the hotels and casinos are located, Lola darlin," Bob said gently so as not to embarrass her. "Now get dressed, cause we're gonna paint this cow town red tonight! And be sure to put that sexy Bustier under whatever you're wearin cause I want you to be lookin good. I've got a special treat for you, honey. The Folies Bergere are at the Tropicana, and we've got front row seats!" Lola's eyes widened. "And that's not all" Bob continued. "Yvette and Gigi are still in the show, and I know they'll be tickled pink to see ya again!" Lola gulped. She would be glad to see Gigi after all these years, but not Yvette. Yvette was a bird that flew into nests where she didn't belong ... in other words, a man stealer! Lola thought, as she and Bob left Caesar's, that Yvette would bear watching very closely tonight.

And Martha was right! Yvette did 'bear' watching too! Once she got her claws into someone then there was no stopping her! Lola remembered leaving her 'man' for a week's holiday in the Bahamas. Those were the days when the Airlines offered special deals. It had been fantastic jetting off in the cold of a British winter and touching down in Nassau under blue and sunny skies. That was the first time she had ever been to a Casino and boy was she lucky! Bingo! Her numbers came up! She searched high and low for a fantastic present for her 'man' back home, but she needn't have bothered. A pair of false eyelashes fluttering up at her from the bedroom carpet in his apartment let her know that he'd had an 'unexpected' visitor whilst she had been away. They were Yvette's trademark. Like window wipers. UP...DOWN......UP....DOWN.... She went through those like hot cakes!

Well Lola thought to herself, she'd experienced alot of growing up pains since then! 'If you don't 'pander' to your man, then what can you expect..........!' She rummaged in her small evening bag and applied a little more Youth Dew to the centre of each wrist. Big Bob might be a 'soft touch' but she knew which buttons to press!

She gave him a loving squeeze as they entered the hotel. 'Big Bob' she smiled at him, 'you didn't forget to bring your Havanna?' Big Bob chuckled, 'Honey, there aint no smoke without a fire, and there aint no Big Bob without his Havanna!' Lola fluttered her eyelashes. She was ready.................

With Valentines Day approaching, I thought nothing would be better than to revive Bob and Lola's love affair . . .

Last we saw of them they were in Vegas ready to paint the town red . . . .

Will anyone give the other 3 members a rest and continue this story after me?
That's just something we'll have to see . . . .
If the members of this site love Big Uncle Bob and Lola,
Then they should join in and forget the payola.

Bob's just given Lola the Estee Lauder Bustier
And on the plane she had champagne and cavier
They're on the town for a bit of a whirl -
Come and read what's in store for our showgirl

Lola's the name and dancin's her game.
We've got Bob and Billy, Yvette and Gigi,
Who will they meet and what will they eat?
Give a picture or a word, just to be heard.

Please exercise your imagination and add a post
As Lisa's site is the perfect host
For this story can be particularly fun
If you can add a word, a poem or a pun.

Valentine's Day is the aim for the story
All you have to do is light the flame and give Bob and Lola their glory.

'Love' is the theme
So let's unfold another scene . . . . .

Sandra, really appreciate your trying, cool.gif
Somehow I think the Story is dying
For without some input from colleagues
And friends, it's a little disheartening,
So that's where I end! sad.gif

My time is quite precious,
I'm here not at home,
And strangers are reading
Your wonderful poem! cool.gif

I pay by the minute,
Expensive you see,
But I had to make contact
(A hello from Me)! wink.gif

So will wait for reactions
From those on the site unsure.gif
And if it is 'WRITE ON'
There's a chance that 'we' might! huh.gif

Big Bob is in his hotel room waiting for Lola to get ready. He is SO MUCH in love with her, he can't stop thinking about her . . . .

He picks up the hotel pad and paper and wants to write her a message . . .

Thinking out loud to himself, Bob drawls:

"Roses are red, violets are blue . . . . . "

scratching his head he continues . . . .

"My dear Lola, I can't think what to say to you . . . . ."

His paws are trembling as he tries to compose his thoughts . . . .

"What I mean to say is see . . . . . . "

Bob looks at his old face in the mirror and practises the phrase:

"Lola, will you marry me?"
