Hey All !

It's very quiet here - what's happening with everyone ? Where are you all ?

Things are very warm over here at the moment and probably very cold over there . . .

I'm looking forward to meeting Ann & Ken who will jet in and cruise out of Sydney in about 3 weeks time.

So - what's everyone else up to ???

Well, I never stop collecting, add something every month. Once an addict ----

Just completed the registration for the IPBA convention in Pittsburg being held 1st weekend in May. It is always a blast and most informative.
Am looking forward to visiting the Frank Lloyd Wright Falling Waters house that is on a tour. People tell me Pittsburg is a very interesting city.
Hope to see some of you there.

:D Hey all, I met up with Ann & Ken who arrived in Sydney last Tuesday and got through without a bag check . . .

It was lovely to meet people that I 'know' from the site, and as Ann tells me, I am now checked off their list of 'people to have met' from the site.

I gave them a great workout going up and down stairs/hills (sorry about that guys, esp Ken) ;)

They are now happily cruising around the Pacific Ocean somewhere for a week or so.

Sandra B)

PS. A special 'Hi' to Lillian too for sending me her greeting via Ann & Ken.

Hi Sandra-
I am betting everyone is too busy shopping for solids! LOL!

Thank you for keeping up the group talk! It is way too quiet here. I hope Lisa is recovered and doing well. I have been completing the sale of my home. I have found my dream home that I hope to be in by May 1st-5th! And yes, I will have a very large room for my solid perfumes and their displays! I haven't been able to add any to my collection right now as the important thing is the home downpayment! But boy I have missed collecting and talking solids with everyone!

I am on facebook for anyone who is interested. I am "solid perfume collector" if you would like to friend me. I also have a group page solid perfume collectors if you would like to check out my page and all the photos of my solid perfume collection. I collect all brands of solid perfumes.

I love that you got to meet Ann and Ken! I hope to someday. I love their solid perfume vignette pictures! They are so talented with their photos and displays. I wish them a wonderful vacation. I am looking forward to next years IPBA convention in Spartanburg SC and am already prepping to go. I hope to see other solid perfume lovers there!

Blessings to everyone!

I have been up to my eyes with work being done here in the apartment! A job which I thought would have and should have taken a week, has extended and taken over my life for over 5 weeks, if not more.

The floor in the hall (you remember the apartment Sandra) has been re-sanded today and will be finished on Tuesday. Then the bathroom floor etc., hopefully a day or two (not longer PLEASE) then FINISHED! It has been a nightmare especially getting up very early for the decorators every morning only to find they were not coming etc., etc.

So as far as writing on the site etc., etc., has gone by the wayside. Plus problems with AOL and not being able to get online for two weeks! So Wendy, Sandra, please accept my apologies!

Ann and Ken, what dates are you in London? Then I can check if I will be around as I am dying to get away from the dust and everything .........

Highclere is FABULOUS ! My friend and I managed to sneek into the grounds when it was closed to tourists . . . and met Lady Carnarvon (the owner) with 4 of her dogs who were sent to hunt us out . . . anyway, she 'kindly' escorted us off the property, but not before we had a few photos at the front door. Sadly she was not in a mood to be photographed herself.

Anyway, Stonehenge is sort of on the way there from London, so maybe it is possible to do the two in one day if a tour to the two are offered. It's not too far past Windsor and although I loved the 'Henge, you probably won't be spending too much time there. B)

Isn't it just great to see the world !?! :D

Hi Sandra, Ann and Ken,

When I did the Stonehenge tour, it was combined with Bath. I think that is an interesting place and there are some Antique shops although we did not think they were very polite! It was pouring with rain at the time but the dates you will be here the weather should be great.

I have taken a note of where you will be staying. Too early to make exact arrangements and as Sandra stated, I am now in the process of removing some of the dust which has settled everywhere! The floor in the hall had to be re-done (cowboys who decided to do it by hand instead of using the sanding machine, after which the varnish was the wrong colour). Now the skirting in the bathroom has to be re-done and at this rate I will have to be re-done! Meanwhile all this has set my back off as it has been aching quite alot.... Oh well.

Will check in again soon to see what is happening and Ann, will let you have my telephone number. Sandra knows my whereabouts......

So sorry not been in touch Sandra, but it has been non-stop... Can you imagine this flat with all the bathroom and hall stuff located in the dining room (where I have your picture) and the bedroom, plus all the other things that have been going on.

Onwards and upwards. Our AGM in Teddington was really good. Will write a belated post later. I owe Phyllis an email to see how she is. She was on crutches due to a tendon problem yet she still arrives here from the States and it is always great to see her. Will write more under AGM IPBA U.K.

xx

Hi

The first weekend in May I attended the annual IPBA convention in Pittsburg. Pittsburgh is quite a nice city and not "the steel city" as most think of it. Being a long time "flat lander" from Florida  I truly enjoyed the pretty hills.  It was  a blast as always and such a joy to be with fellow collectors.  As usual I fully intended to not go overboard and buy every solid I saw. So much for good intentions.  Returned home with 5 MIB ELs and 20 other makers. There were a lot more solids available and more solid collectors than usual. Most of all it was good to among friends who are also addicted to  beautiful perfume items.  There are so many knowledgeable members and they share their expertise in the various categories. All members are so friendly no one ever feels alone. In addition to viewing all the wonderful displays in the show room and collectors market there was tour to the wondeful Frank LLoyd Wright Falling Waters house in the lovely hills of Pennsylvania and a delightful dinner dance river cruise along the three rivers that meet in Pitssburgh. Such fun and I was fortunate to make three new friends  from our table. We made it back from that in time to attend the Pajama Party.  Hope to see more members of this site at the convention next year. It makes a great Mini vacation.

Phyllis

Hello Phyllis,

I have some lovely memories of my stay in Pittsburgh a few years ago so was interested to read how you enjoyed the convention...

Perhaps some of you out there would give a thought to attending our Convention this year in the U.K.     More details in due course.....

Meanwhile Phyllis, glad you found some lovely items........think about coming here........we have met but cannot remember exactly when or where.........
