Funny you should mention lipsticks. Did you know there are thousands of homemade lip glosses for sale out there. People are making them with mint oils, fruit oils and all sorts of other things. While searching around after reading these posts I found tens of thousands of people selling homemade lip glosses and solid perfumes and there are lots of recipies for how to make them available online as well.

Wow wonder if they are tested on poor little animals like the cosmetic companies do. I surely hope not. Oh and there is a site called Etsy.com that sells lots of "Beautiful" and "Pleasures" solid perfumes, other solid perfumes and lip glosses that are all home made as well. Maybe we should try to shut that site down.

Thanks for the tip, if they do sell homemade concoctions using the Estee Lauder name without the company's permission I will definitely avoid that website. WHATEVER HAPPENED TO HONESTY AND INTEGRITY!

Just by way of interest.....I wonder if the seller of these fake perfumes would like to tell us all which laboratory has tested them for safety, cosmetic houses spend thousands of pounds to insure that their products are safe.....As someone who suffers from eczema I dread to think what an untested product could do to me.

Oh my! I just had a thought.

Since we know that the perfume is scraped out of the compacts before they are sold empty at the Estee Lauder warehouse sales, perhaps someone knows an Estee Lauder employee at the warehouse and is able to purchase the solids that were taken out in vat containers and then is reselling them as refills in smaller containers. Wow all they would need to do is put the emptied real EL solid perfumes into little containers and then sell them. Now wouldnt that be something and Estee Lauder would know about it since they are the ones ordering the perfume to be scraped out. What a thought .... these refills just could be the original Estee solid perfumes. Maybe the seller doesnt want to jepordize their contact at the warehouse and just says they are homemade. Hummm...

Lets hope no one can find the boxes and labels they throw away at the warehouse or we will never know if the mint in box ones are legit either.

But as we know from waiting for EL to do something about the warehouse sales, they really dont care. It is actually EL that is sabotaging the collectors isnt it?

I remember buying " Pleasures " in a long pink stick years ago, probably 2003. EL also had the sticks in Dazzling Gold & Silver. The only refill I have ever seen came with the Beautiful star, and that was released ages ago. EL wouldn't make enough money on refills to produce them, makes more sense to make a whole new solid. I am surprised Ebay hasn't shut these sellers down who are making these solids. When I first started buying things on Ebay, one of the things I bought were perfume decants. I knew a woman who flew to Paris twice a year to buy perfumes unavailable in the US. I also made the acquaitance of a woman who flew to Italy and did the same thing. Both would also buy several full size bottles and sell them as well for a profit. They both would decant them into sample size tubes and sell them on Ebay. That's all been shut down on Ebay as the manufacturers of the perfumes were unhappy. I think they both made alot of money doing this, one bought a new SUV, and the other was building a new home. It's amazing the ways people can make big money on Ebay. I love perfume, and loved being able to buy the decants of perfumes unavailable in the US, and believe me there are hundreds. The only thing Ebay will allow now are the manufacturers sample sizes for sale.

As you have this information, it is the people/ contacts working at E.Lauder and selling all this outside to their contacts. Outside contacts fall into the same category!!GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION Easy to see how they are making our collections worthless. As the saying goes, ''It takes one to know one!''

It's good to see that many of us are not as green as you would imagine!

Seems like there are alot more empties that have been filled for sale on Ebay! Maybe '' us collectors'' should all stop buying and then the sellers will go down the drain too! That would be the end of their dishonesty and greed! Think about it!

Etsy is a website for crafters and people who make things to sell their items. I purchased a custom made piece of furniture from an Etsy seller and my cousin sells her pottery on Etsy. It's run kind of like ebay. It's too bad the Estee Lauder counterfeiters have found another venue to hawk their wares. Of course, EL isn't going after any of these websites to discourage the sellers. That would give them too much integrity!

So that leaves us, the collectors to do something about it unless you want to stop collecting and see your solids devalued.

No point in buying items for 42 filled if they are going to be worth ONE Cent, due to these unscrupulous sellers! They know who they are. Look at ebay.....not difficult to find!

How they have the gall to call themselves collectors, beats me!

Have some bad news here for the Seller. Seems VERO operates out of Estee Lauder in the UK..it takes them a little longer to find all the solid perfume problem sellers in all the various countries, then they must check with their legal department, (EL's,) then they get all the Seller's info from eBay. Auctions are stopped and at that point, I would hope the Seller has his/her home, car, bank accounts and all possessions in someone else's name as it can all be taken away in court via Fines, Penalties, etc. Oh...not only does Lauder hold you accountable for infringement...eBay does too. How? By suspending the Seller...permanently. All this for a few extra bucks? Is the seller nuts? To state it's made by Estee Lauder is outright fraud...and am sure it will be dealt with. The sticks are made by Estee Lauder. The pots...NO. BIG mistake on the part of the seller...this is going to be one very sad, broke person when it hits the proverbial fan.

Regardless, Corporate NY is in touch with Corporate UK so within a week or 2 there will be action taken. And no, the pots of solid perfume are not legit. Not endorsed by Estee Lauder. Not sold by Estee Lauder. No product testing for safety or hygiene. This could get quite nasty for the Seller. Almost feel sorry for them. NOT!

And the Warehouse Sales? Lauder doesn't get all upset about them. But their trademarked Perfumes and Colognes...WoW! I see a tsunami on the horizon...

Hope whoever it is...is paying attention. Seriously.

Oh dear...yet another sticky wicket.

I will check here in the U.K. Thanks for the heads up Michele. I don't like being played for a fool!

Might be easier for everyone if we just inserted the auction here on the site! Let everyone make up their own mind re the content (if it hasn't been changed to all our writing)!!!!!!!

QUOTE: "Maybe the seller doesn't want to jeopardize their contact at the warehouse and just says they are homemade" As you seem to know so much about what goes on at the Estee Lauder warehouse perhaps you could enlighten us as to whether you think the refills being sold on ebay are homemade or 'original'? If all this wheeling and dealing was above board why would the person have to worry about 'jeopardizing their warehouse contact'?
QUOTE: "these refills just could be the original Estee Lauder perfumes" Why would anyone be stupid enough to risk being thrown off ebay and a law suit from Estee Lauder by calling them homemade if they were in fact original? Only rogue traders selling fake goods take that risk. Either way the solids have been tampered with so are not the real deal!

Actually it is not Estee Lauder that is sabotaging things for the collectors but unscrupulous sellers and their contacts...........

Well thanks everyone for the educational lesson! I had no idea that full was not full of the original. Dang it! Now I am wondering ok which ones did I buy like that? I cannot even recall! Ack! Now I am going to sniff all of my solids!! LOL! Once I am on my 'Estee' sniffing high, I will once again be so thankful for this site that lets me learn the do's and don'ts of solid perfume collecting.

I also appreciate the well spoken opinions regarding solid collection values. I appreciate the value being maintained for my collection. My heart though values my little solids more than the market dictates though! Some of my favorite solids I just love for being able to obtain them and admire them. I think I really value my older Estee solids mostly because of the rarity and especially when I have found them mint in the box. Anyway, best wishes to all and happy collecting!

It seems the seller has edited the ebay listings title for these fake solid perfume refills to read: Solid Perfume compact w Estee Lauder. As if that is going to make any difference. A message to the seller please do the decent thing and take your listings off ebay!

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, but at least one seller is posting an image that shows the solid AND a box, then in the description says the box is not available, she is using a stock photo. I was almost deceived, so thought I would post this warning.

Thanks, AR. I saw that too but did not catch the fact that she claims it's a "stock photo." Looks original to me...just doctored up the text. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse....wow!

Look, we all know who is doing this. And we all know she's making a pile of money selling unlicensed Estee Lauder solid perfume, whether it's alone or in a rejected compact sold at the warehouse.

So I must ask you to STOP. As a collector, I resent your deceitful behaviour. As an occasional seller, you're giving all good sellers bad names by pushing off fake scents in EL compacts. This is outrageous and it must stop or BE stopped. And I guarantee you - it will be stopped. You simply cannot fill up Estee Lauder Solid Compacts with your own concoction of perfumes, then sell them as Estee Lauder Solid Perfume Compacts. What part of this do you not understand? Please pm me and I'll speak slower.

Thought you were a friend...sad to find out how wrong I was.
