On the ground below, those who had braved the cold to see the Northern Lights saw an added spectacle this night - a glittering Precious Plane travelled from right to left amidst the dazzling light show. Behind it was a trail of sparkling "bling" that spelled out estee lauder across the sky.

All the hundreds of solids were almost at Santa's Place. They were so excited that they just kept lighting up their swarovski crystals.

Once the plane had finally landed everyone huddled up to one another as close as they could. It was so cold, it took their breath away. Hot mulled wine was passed around, the most warming and satisfying drink which made them all tingle inside and warmed their bodies with sweet and wondeful sensations.

'This is going to be the most wonderful trip'' Lola murmured, pulling up the large collar of her fur coat. ''I am so excited that I just don't know how I am going to sleep tonight!'' The other solids nodded in agreement. They could not wait to see the sun rising over the vast white winterland stretching out for miles around them and, of course, the reindeer and Father Christmas.

It was the most magical setting and it was going to be the most magical time, ever!

The doors of the plane were opened and everyone stood shivering in the cold wondering what to do. From the ground came shouts of welcome!, welcome!, we have been expecting you.

Bob and Lola were handed thermal suits to keep them warm, Lola was really pleased with hers as it was a very pretty pink and had Swarovski crystals around the cuffs.

Bob laughed at Lola,"You look like a giant stick of candyfloss" he told her.

"Well, its better than looking like a beached whale, that colour of grey does nothing for you at all" replied Lola, throwing a snowball in his direction.

Before a full scale snow fight could break out, the peace of the morning was shattered by the very noisy arrival of a team of sledges, each one pulled by at least eight Husky dogs.

"All aboard," shouted the drivers, "This is where the adventure begins."

"All the solids jostled for places under the reindeer-skin rugs that had been provided to keep them warm, the driver was just about to set off when a cry from Jack made everyone jump.

"Look! look!" he shouted, everybody turned round and............. There rubbing his face and rolling his body in the deep snow was the Sparkling Polar Bear.

"What you all looking at" he asked them, "I live in a warm case most of the time so this could be the only chance I ever get to roll in the snow."

Shaking snow of his huge body, very slowly he clambered aboard the sledge and with a cry from the drivers the huskies set off.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way they sang.

''OOoooooh, this is lovely'' Lola cried as they weaved their way in and out of giant trees arms outstretched laden with glistening white leaves sprinkled with red berries.
''Look over there" Jack in the Box bobbed. All eyes turned towards a giant Igloo surrounded by a guard of Penguins. As they passed by the strains of Winterland filled the air...

''Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?
In the lane snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
We're happy tonight
Riding in a winter wonderland!''

In the distance they could see what looked like a huge chimney. Curls of smoke
twisted and turned upwards into the blue clear sky. ''Well I'll be darned'' Big Bob said. ''Looks like we'll soon be meeting up with Father Christmas!''.

Yes, in a short while they would all be settling down with Father Christmas
and discussing what he wanted them to do to make this Christmas the most special it had ever been. Lola wiped a tear or two or.... as they rolled down her flushed cheeks. ''Why you cryin'' Big Bob asked, pulling her close.
''Nothing really!'' she smiled. ''Just reminiscing about the good times we shared. Paris, London, Florida and now here....just reminiscing!'' plop, plop, plop! ''Aw Shucks'' Big Bob sighed, ''this aint the time to be sniffling. Here comes Father Christmas!''

On and on they raced through the forest, faster and faster they went as the Huskies gathered speed enjoying their new found freedom.

Every one clinging on for dear life as the sledges twisted and turned around the forest paths.

Lola laughed, "This is better than any roller coaster ride, ain't it Big Bob"

"Sure is honey" he replied, secretly he felt a bit sick and hoped the ride would not last much longer.

Soon Bob got his wish and the Huskies began to slow down. A long path appeared and on each side of it the trees were hung with thousands of twinkling lights and Joy of Joys, lots of what looked like presents.

The long path led into a clearing and the Huskies stopped. There in front of them was a large log cabin and to the side of it Prancer, Dancer, Blitzen and the famous Rudolph were happly munching on bales of hay.

Everyone climbed out of the sledges, some a little unsteady on their feet after all the excitement of the ride.

"Think I had better do a head count" said Bob, "Just to be one the safe side"

All the solids stood very still whilst Big Bob did the count, a funny look came over his face.

"Someones missing!!" he exclaimed "But who is it?, did somebody fall out as we went round one of the corners."

A quivering, shivering, cold, frightened, teeth chattering little Mousy Thompson clung on to a fragile branch praying it would not snap . His beady eyes could see a deep ravine below and he knew that if he fell he would be smashed to pieces landing on the hard slippery ice.

It had all happened so quickly! One minute he felt comfortable and secure nestled warmly in Big Bob's top pocket and then! The next minute he was hurtling through the very very cold air finally catching on to a branch covered in snow, his tail curled round and round as he clung on for dear life!

''Help, help me!'' he twitched knowing that no-one could hear him let alone help him! All he could possibly do was to try and somehow gain some strength so that he could turn his body upwards to enable him to balance on the branch before attempting to reach a more steady place before making his way to safety.

Meanwhile, Big Bob, Lola, Freddy and Jack in the Box repeated the head count
trying to work out who was missing when the realisation hit them like a clap of thunder and bolt of lightening.. ''Mousey Thompson..........Mousey Thompson!''

Where on earth was he and how on earth were they to find him! Big Bob rolled his eyes round and around. What were they going to do!

Rudolph quicly came forward. "I can help, he shouted, I will fly back over the trail and light up the area with my nose. I will find him dont you worry. Im good at finding misfits and lost things."

With that Rudolph took off on his search. Along the way he saw his friends the abominable snow monster and cornelius (from the cartoon) and asked them to come along in case he needed help.

It wasnt long before Rudolph spotted Mousey clinging to the branch as he flew past. Rudolph called for Abominable since he was very tall and could reach Mousey.

Abominable reached up and took got Mousey in his had and placed him gently on his shoulder. Mousey was sooooo happy to be sitting on the warm and furry shoulder of this gentle monster. He settled way down in the fur and fell fast asleep.

The group returned and everyone celebrated Mouseys safe return.

Meanwhile a few elves arrived with a message from Santa.

Two chief Elves unrolled a scroll and took turns in reading it to the large group.

"Tonight, despite his busy-ness at this time of year, Santa invites you all to a feast in the large hall at 5:30pm precisely" said the first Elf. This was met with lots of smiles and nodding and hand slapping from all.

The second elf continued, "Since the Elves will be also preparing the dinner and laying the table and cleaning up, he asks that you all might help him afterward to continue wrapping the presents and loading the sleigh". Again, this was met with lots of smiles and nodding - that would be fun, they all thought.

The first elf took over, "Further, he asks if he might borrow the magnificent uber-technological Precious Plane that he saw fly in as he figures he can deliver much more quickly with that since he can just program the plane and then sit back in his sleigh and relax". Everyone's jaw dropped. He wants to take Freddy's plane !

Gees, thought Bob - a man who knows just what he wants ! "Sure", said Bob without hesitation "no problem - we'll be there, and I'm sure we can work out something with the plane."

Bob figured that it was such a treat to be at the North Pole with Santa that the least they could do was offer to drop all the presents off on the way home so Santa could just enjoy himself riding on his sleigh without the added pressure of getting himself up and down the chimneys. After all, Santa was getting on!

"Thank you." The second elf said with an air of expectedness. Then all the elves trotted off to continue their helpfulness around Santa's cottage.

"Ok Team", said Bob "lets get cleaned up for the feast and festivities and then prepare to hit the road. It'll be a loooooong one tonight, but we'll manage it, I'm sure!"

"Yippee!" "Yay", "Go Team!" "Hooray!" were heard amongst the solids as they ran about readying themselves for the evening. "We're going to go around the world again!"

Meanwhile, Rudolph and the other reindeers were wondering if they had all been duddled out of a job! "It is what we're famous for" said Comet. "It's our legend," agreed Donner. "We look forward to all the treats left out for us" grumbled Dancer. "What shall we do?" asked Prancer. "It's not as if we can go on strike!" weighed up Dasher. "Hmm, maybe we could lead the plane!" said Blitzen. "Yeah! That might be the way to still get our treats" said Vixen. "OK - now we'll just have to hope Santa agrees on this" said shy Cupid.

It didnt take long before everyone was ready and raring to go. Freddy was in the cockpit waiting to take off. Meanwhile, Santa and his helpers had fastened their seat belts in anticipation of their night of a life time. This was going to be fun! ''Here we go!'' Big Bob laughed, ''Hold on to your seat belts. We're in for a long ride!''
With that, the plane choked a little before it began to rise higher and higher whilst the sleigh rose up behind into the night sky. Fluffy white clouds cushioned the bumpy ride as Santa and his helpers excitedly whooped and clapped as if they were on a big dipper at Disney World.

''Now let's all sing Sleigh Bells as we drop in on everyone with their favourite solids!'' Santa chuckled, his eyes twinkling as brightly as the stars around them.

And so it began and now sadly it must end! Santa and his helpers delivered so many wanted solids to so many caring homes. Homes where they would find peace and contentment. Homes in the USA, Australia, Europe, England, Singapore .....all over the globe. And one special home in Florida where everyone first met a long time ago.

Big Bob and Lola snuggled up in front of their log fire. It had been a fun time and what could be more magical than that!

''Let's make a toast Lola'' Big Bob raised his glass. ''To all our friends who follow our adventures. May they all have a wonderful, peaceful and healthy New Year!'' ''Yes Big Bob'' Lola said raising her glass. ''And may the stories be overflowing with fun and happiness, always!''
