Hi everyone. I think we may be talking about two different things. There was a special presentation box made this year that solids came in. I don't know how much it was. I think only Harrods had the box.

In the States, Nieman Marcus is selling a set of 3 jeweled powder compacts in a special wooden presentation box to commemorate their 100th Anniversary. The set is $350 and it's fab! I think there are only 450 sets being made. There are three totally jeweled powders - including one in black crystals - and it is a must for us powder collectors! I am picking mine up next week. Will get a pic on the site when I can.

I bought the dark blue lacquer Anniversary Box. Inside is a plaque that says Estee Lauder Neiman Marcus 1907-2007. I believe it was $125. I was told there would only be 100 made. It was mailed to me directly, the store never received any. It is 22.5" long and 7" tall and heavy. And empty. Nothing came with it, except two keys. The top is hinged. The top shelf lifts out. I can't figure out what to do with it. Maybe it is supposed to be for jewelry? No one at Neiman or EL Las Vegas knows... I call it the Mystery Box. Members Photos doesn't work. I can't upload here. Email me for photos.
Ar

P.S. I was at Saks yesterday for F&F day (15% off all cosmetics/20% off all else). The solids were sitting on a shelf: foo dog, plane, bonsai, etc. Even at 15% I wouldn't buy them (I already have the plane). Could a boycott by Solidperfume members be affecting sales? rolleyes.gif Or did EL just bomb again on their solid designs? Food for thought...

Hi Ar... smile.gif

I think it's one of the best years we have had in about the last five for solids, the designs are spot on.......BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE HAVE ALL GOT WISER. I FOR ONE WON'T BUY THEM INCASE THEY COME OUT OF THE WEARHOUSE AND START TO DEVALUE.

Kind Regards.....Margaret

Hi Linda,  smile.gif

I haven't seen this particular box.  Wish I could get into the Members' Photos.......

Would love to read more about these boxes and compacts...

Hello Jacqueline!!

The box I bought from Neiman's is velvet (black or dark blue), and inside there are 3 powder compacts, black, silver, and gold, covered with sparkling crystals. The compacts look like the ones for sale by Harrod's. The box is numbered on the inside of the top, and there is a large bow above the compacts on the inside of the bottom of the box. The box and compacts were $350.00.

I don't know anything about the wooden one. Where do I get one, someone??

Thanks Ar and Linda for your box info.....

Was it last year (time seems to fly these days) I took pictures of a special box which Harrods had for sale. Wish I would have kept the pictures now!
The Navy Box which I think you are referring to, had a key and inside they
had some solids. I cannot remember the price, but I am sure it was more than
the price you quoted....

This was a special promotion and I believe that this particular box (and maybe some solids) were included in the last Convention's Raffle in the States........

Anyone who attended the Convention (was it the last one or the previous) would be able to update or also tell me I have my facts wrong! Either, or.........??

Hi everyone,

I found the pic of the HARROS BLUE BOX for Xmas 2006 that was offered for the raffle of the convention 2007.

I was told that I could get the 2007 Harrods box too, which, if I remember well would be white,
but that the customers would have to pay the shipping (which will be quite high) themselves.
Of course I will post a pic as soon as I will get the 2007 one.

Here comes the NEIMAN MARCUS ANNIVERSARY BOX 1907 - 2007

Hi Lainey,

the butterfly is available at Neiman Marcus for $ 300.00, so that's much less than Harrrods.
Check the 1st and 2nd site of this topic and you will see some other brochures of solid perfumes and powder compacts.

Take care, Brigitte

Brigitte,
Your photo of the blue Harrods box looks the same as the anniversary box I bought from Neiman Marcus.

Brigitte,

Thank you for all of the pictures and brocures. Now I'm not so confused about the boxes. You are always a big help, and I appreciate you so much.
