I can't make it to the upcoming convention so I hope some of you that do go
will be able to post some of the goings on. I would love to hear all about it and
if Estee Lauder will be revealing any new solids.

Looking forward to reading your posts and possibly seeing some photos.

Thanks,

Joni smile.gif

Hi All, Will you have pictures available of all the new compacts coming out this year or have I already missed them? I have been so busy and not had a chance to communicate with all of you for quite some time. Can't wait to see the new ones! They should be out sometime in June..........right??
Thanks,
Gayla

Hello everyone! I have a quick update for you on the convention! First of all, WHERE WAS EVERYONE? It was just Katita, Phillis and myself representing the whole solidperfume.com contingent!! The show was small, but always enjoyable to see my friends and see what treasures will turn up. I think I can speak for all three of us and say that we came home with at least 1 special solid for our collections!

Estee was there and previewed their 2006 solids...I am going to let Katita share the list with you, but I will tell you that a wonderful LV exclusive was available to us called "Lady Luck" and it is a pair of jeweled dice! It is great and I think everyone will be happy with it. You should be able to order from the LV or NY stores on Monday. There are some really nice solids coming out and the theme is "around the world" just to get you guessing. The Jay Strongwater solids have a "garden" theme and are quite attractive. And there are some WONDERFUL powder compacts!!! Unfortunately, I don't think anyone got any pictures but they should be coming in a few months. I was a bit surprised to find out that there will be a new Harrods Palace this year...It is smaller and more realistic to the actual store (at the request of M. Fayed), but I would have preferred that this special solid not be reissued, even in a slightly different form. Other than that, I give everything a thumbs up and many collectors should be pleased!

I want to thank Beri and Phyllis for making the convention very special for me...we had a great time!

Hello Woody, thanks for the update! I thought the
dice would be hot! I shall definitely be after those smile.gif

I just cannot believe about the Harrods Palace ohmy.gif They were supposedly
limited to 500 and now they are re-issuing?
Am really surprised that this is happening even if the new release is smaller!

Nice to hear that Beri, Phyllis and yourself have been holding the
Solid Perfume Flag.......

Keep up the good work and any pictures would be most welcome smile.gif

P.S. I have edited my post as having slept on it (so to speak) I would imagine
that the first collectable Harrods Palace will be the rarer one. Will they limit the proposed smaller one????????

PERHAPS THE powers that be would consider NUMBERING the limited items
released????????? ph34r.gif

I too add my thanks to you Woody for letting us know about the convention. It is very much appreciated. In advance, thanks Katita for your input and more detailed information about the upcoming solids. From what you post Woody they sound very intriguing and something to strongly consider. However, I have learned not to make any solid buying decisions without pictures which I know will come up on this site and also when we get the next issue of the Compact Collector newsletter. Roz is very good getting that information out after convention via snail mail. From what you have posted Woody, the only negative feeling I have would be the Harrods Palace for the reasons Jacky has already posted. Everything else sounds very interesting....guess I better start saving money now.

We now know the dice is available to buy at EL stores. Here is a question, "Did EL say when the rest of the solids (both general distribution and department store so called exclusives) would be available for purchase?

Again, my deepest thanks for letting us know,
Gigi

Hi again. If I remember correctly, the release dates start in late summer through early fall for the start of the Christmas season, and there were really special Holiday items this year in the general release line. I do want Katita and Phyillis to be able to share some things with you. You should hear from them later today/tomorrow.

P.S. As for the palace, I just feel they should not have reissued it. It was a special piece and anytime you reissue something, it impacts the original. And it's not a point of effecting value so much - although it will do that too. I don't want this one aspect - and perhaps mainly my feeling -to overshadow the new releases. I think everyone will find something they love.

Hi Woody,

I still think that it is totally wrong to release a limited number of an item, and
then re-issue! I hold this point irrespective of whether it will overshadow the
purchasing by collectors of the new item.

I did write in my edited post, that this may well affect the desirability of the
first Palace AND FOR ALL THOSE COLLECTORS WHO PAID 350 FOR THE
ITEM SOME WHILE BACK plus POSTAGE, I cannot share your thoughts about not wanting
your comments to overshadow the new releases. The new releases, go
ahead with, but to re-issue something into which alot of 's $$$$$$$'s
have been invested, to my distorted way of thinking, is JUST NOT RIGHT!!!!!!

Hopefully many of our Collectors on this
Site will make comments too!

I must say that the price of 350 for the new smaller
version Harrods, is the icing on the cake!!!!!!! ohmy.gif

How can one be complacent over a solid which has cost 350 and is
''supposedly'' a limited edition, and then, lo and behold, another is
being introduced at the same price. Perhaps E.L think we all have
money to burn and will be surprised if the Collectors
do not dip into their hard earned cash to acquire this solid! At these
prices they should be NUMBERED and LIMITED!

Yes, I look forward to the new releases and by all accounts they
sound very promising. The Las Vegas Dice are high on my list
but if I am going to spend 350 it will be on a rare and hard to find
E.L solid perfume, when quality and limited availability went hand in
hand!

There are many new powders as well for those of you who collect powders. They range in price from $32 to $175.

Also, new Harrods solids as well - they are:

Beautiful Harrods Palace 2006....................$350.00..............08/06

and the powder is Year of the Pig Pressed Powder Compact for L45.00.....10/06

Now onto thoughts of the convention... cool.gif

It was wonderful to see Woody and Phyllis from our site (we were the only 3) and it was nice to see some of the people I met last year in Vegas. It was a very small convention and I'm not sure if the dealers sold very much as there weren't many buyers there this year but I hope all sold some.

One of the compact dealers spoke at the dinner Saturday night, Ellen is her name and her speech (with Woody running the slide projector) was really good and informative and her pictures of the Dance Compacts from the 20's was a lot of fun and beautiful to watch.

I think for next year the convention should be later in the summer - June, July or even August and it should be in a place where Estee Lauder has a store or there's a large department store with an Estee counter. Or even, dare I speak it, combine our convention with the IPBA convention - we'd probably get better rates and/or deals if we did it together....bigger is better in this case I think.

Anyway, despite the smallness of the convention and very low turnout for buyers and sellers, those of us who did go were very glad to see each other and as Woody already stated, I think everyone got at least one solid to add to their collection....I bought a few myself rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

Very happy to be home and hope you are all doing well!!!!

Phyllis, I enjoyed dinner Sunday night with you and your husband, hope you had fun in the casino!

Take care all, I have to go back to work now.....I'll be back on later.....

Love & Kisses Everyone!! Katita
