On that fall morning, four years ago, over 2200 people went to work in the World Trade Center, never to return home. 343 New York City Firefighters and 23 Police Officers lost their lives trying to save those trapped in the buildings. 125 military and civilian personnel died at the Pentagon while just doing their jobs. 81 passengers and 11 crew were killed when terrorists slammed American Flight 11 into the North tower of the World Trade Center; 56 passengers and 9 crew were lost when terrorists used United Flight 175 as a missile to destroy the South Tower; 58 terrified passengers and 6 crew perished when American Flight 77 slammed into the Pentagon. And 38 brave passengers and 7 crew members on United Flight 93 lost their lives, but saved the Capitol, when they fought the terrorists and crashed in rural Pennsylvania.

These were mothers, fathers, grandfathers, sons, daughters, grandmothers. They were just like you and me. There were newlyweds and new parents among the casualties. There were families lost in the planes. There were those just starting jobs and those looking forward to retirement. They were rich, they were middle-class, they were those living paycheck to paycheck. They had hopes and dreams. And all was lost in that fall morning.

We remember them all, and we will never forget.

Thanks Catherine for the 9/11 post and also to KK for her photos.

Remembering all those who lost their lives and all those affected. Our hearts will never forget.

sad.gif Memories for that fateful and surreal day. So many were stunned by it and the shock waves it sent around the world. Still to this day am in disbelief about the type of people who can plan these things and carry them out.

They could be anyone - your neighbours, your school or work mates . . . your spouse !! Just incredible how you'd never know. ohmy.gif

And then each year since, one terrible world tragedy after another . . .

For every person who has died through tragic circumstances like these, may you all rest in peace! And for every person who has survived the tragedies, may we all band together and fight for world peace.
