Hello Greyhound,

Vegemite, which I quite like, is a yeast extract (I think). It is almost black in colour and tastes salty-ish. It goes very well with butter on toast or fresh bread. Apparantly it is very similar to Marmite (only better!!) - Come on, Aussies - back me up!! wink.gif

It's the alternative to sweet things on toast or bread. Whereas you might put honey, marmalade, jam or other, people who don't like too much sugar or sweet taste use the vegemite/marmite option.

IT's YUMMY !!!!

PS. (Hope you don't mind my copy, paste and alter effort, Jacky!) laugh.gif

Hi to all of you who are going to the UK, sorry can't make it this year - too much on my plate.

Woody, keep away from Marmite, it's awful blink.gif
It is a yeast extract and it's made in Burton upon Trent because that used to be the beer making capital of England - it is a by product from the brewing process. Anyone who has been to Burton at the wrong time of day would never get it past their nose - the whole town gets very smelly with the process. ph34r.gif

Well thats your cultural lesson for the day - sorry I can't help with Windsor but I do believe someone famous lives there laugh.gif rolleyes.gif

Hope you all enjoy meeting each other - can't wait for all the pics biggrin.gif blink.gif

stay away from Marmite, Vegemite, and anything else like them....!!!!! I can think of many things that would go better on toast, anything edible really...but I'd rather just eat dry bread.

Sorry all you dedicated yeast extract lovers
