WELL FIRST OF ALL I APOLOGISE IN CASE THE SPELLING GETS MIXED UP - WE HAVE JUST FINISHED APPERITIFS WITH THE NEIGHBOURS!!! tongue.gif

WE WERE TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE WE KNEW AND I REMEMBEED SOME VERY STRANGE NAMES I HAVE COME ACROSS. rolleyes.gif

ONE OF MY FIRST JOBS WAS WORKING IN A FURNITURE STORE AND I WAS THE CASHIER - NO PROBLEM. THEN WE HAD THIS CUSTOMER AND IF I SAW HIM COMING I HAD TO DO A RUNNER. HIS SURNAME WAS HARDON - TRY SAYING THAT WITHOUT IT SOUNDING REALLY RUDE ohmy.gif blink.gif

IN THE MID EIGHTIES I WAS WORKING IN LONDON AND SHARED AN OFFICE WITH A LOVELY AMERICAN WHOSE SURNAME WAS GOODNIGHT

IN THE OFFICE NEXT DOOR ON OUR FLOOR THERE WAS AN EQUALLY NICE ENGLISHMAN WHOSE NAME WAS GOODENOUGH - STRANGE EH huh.gif

SOME YEARS BEFORE I WAS CALLED INTO THE OFFICE AND TOLD WE WERE TO HAVE A VISITOR THAT AFTERNOON - BUT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MUST I MAKE ANY REACTION TO HIS NAME. blink.gif
WELL THIS REALLY WASN'T FAIR - FOREWARNED ETC
THAT AFTERNOON THE VISITOR ARRIVED AND INTRODUCED HIMSELF - CAPTAIN LILLICRAP - NOW YOU TELL ME HOW YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO KEEP A STRAIGHT FACE!!!!!! rolleyes.gif unsure.gif

BUT THE VERY BEST - AND HOPEFULLY YOU CAN NOW IMAGINE MY DEMEANOUR - WAS THE DAY I WAS AT A COCKTAIL PARTY AND INTRODUCED TO A VISITING ARMY OFFICER - MAJOR HAZARD tongue.gif ph34r.gif

I WAS SO PLEASED I WAS DRINKING CHAMPAGNE - IT GAVE ME THE EXCUSE OF CHOKING ON THE BUBBLES wink.gif unsure.gif blink.gif biggrin.gif

I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE WITH THESE SORT OF STORIES, SO I LOOK FORWARD TO READING ALL THE OTHERS.

WITH A STRAIGHT FACE

Caroline, these are hilarious. I especially liked Captain Lillicrap!

One day at work, I returned to my office to find a message from a Zipadee Dudah, who was with some insurance company. When I called the person back, I asked him if this was his real name and he told me the story.

His parents had named him Donald Dudah, but his entire life all of his classmates teased him and called him Zipadee Doo Dah after the song made famous by Walt Disney. When he was grown, he decided to legally change his first name to Zipadee. When I asked him why, he replied, ìYou called me back, didnít you.î biggrin.gif

Very funny all! smile.gif

The only funny one we know of is that the Englishman Thomas Crapper was a plumber in London and holds 9 patents for plumbing related items. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Also Don's childhood doctor in Clayton, New Mexico was named Dr. Slaughter. ph34r.gif and his parents Certified Public Accountant for 40 years was named N.O. Brane. tongue.gif

Those are funny!

I just had my daughter, and there was a couple at a birthing class we took that were planning on naming their child Callie Lilly (say the first and middle name together and it sounds like the flower). Geez... cute now but not when she grows up! rolleyes.gif Hopefully they had a boy instead!!

I used to be a telephonist with BT and we used to get all sorts. One time a friend was sent to work in an exchange in the Highlands and she found the local doctor was a Dr Donald Duck, apparently his father and grandfather before him had all been Donald too. Guess they were a family of quacks!
Sorry, had to be told laugh.gif
One name we did come across which we used to take turns of using, if guys we didn't fancy, were trying to chat us up was.....Mabel Clutterchuckerbutty.

Wow these are funny! When I was much younger I went to school with a boy named Sandy Beech and I still know a guy named Frank Furter. One of my customers' names is Hoare and when they moved to a new house and the new people moved into their old house and called me for service (my husband and I run a small lawn sprinkler business) I said "Oh, you moved into the old Hoare house" and there was DEAD SILENCE on the other end, then they realized what I said and all was okay again. I've had customers whose names include: Slutsky, Cunnilinghis (I ALWAYS call her Mrs. C), Shitsky, Lipshitz, Bentdick, and one of my all time favs - Lance Weiner (sounds painful) ohmy.gif

Names can be very funny - biggrin.gif I should talk, my real name is Beri LOL tongue.gif

Hi Everyone!

Jacky, so glad to see you back posting!! Glad you are safe.

O.K. here's my contribution to "funny names" When I was with the airlines I had a regular customer........I just enjoyed her so much.....her name was Lima Bean. She was a darling little British lady.

Of course you've heard of two of our "grand dames" of Texas history:

Ima and Ura Hogg laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

More later......

Hugs

Mimi

I crack up every time the radio comes on and Benjamin Dover is on. When he's called "Ben," his name sounds like "bend over." biggrin.gif

When she held her firstborn, my aunt never thought about her daughter growing up and putting her name on a belt. Well, Dawn Runk did just that; but she put her first initial along with her last name.....DRunk.

Really funny! Love the Ben Dover! laugh.gif I was just trying to fall asleep and kept thinking of these funny names when I recalled at school we had assembly every morning and prayers. My best friend's last name was Emanuele, and whenever we started singing the hymn 'Oh come Emanuel' or something like that, I would end up with a fit of the giggles. Needless to say, my friend was not amused........ laugh.gif
