Thanks Lisa, thanks Liliane for the pics.

I just went to the gallery and saw all your other pictures Liliane - they are very impressive indeed - I didn't know they were there. I enjoyed seeing them. Thanks! cool.gif

I wish the guardsman had a bit more of a face.

Hi All,

Although Lisa and Liliane have posted good photo's of the Sentry, my opinion

is still the same, it is SO UGLY! sad.gif

Not a piece that I would like in my collection to look at.............but we are all

different and I am happy for the collectors that do like this piece.

Roll on next year ..............that is all I can say. smile.gif

Elly.

The Bull Dog I like, but not enough to buy it. It has a good strong body and the collar makes this solid......but one way or another the eyes are not quiet right, too prominent.

The Harrods bears I have never collected......but if you get one you have to have the next and the next and so on.

The Sentry..... ohmy.gif I do not like it at all.

For me the Harrods solids are too British, give me the Vegas bling any day.... laugh.gif

Regards......Margaret

I will have a go:
2001 Rodney (after the Harrods doorman . . . . I think!)
2002 Giles
2003 William
2004 Thomas
2005 Nicholas

I believe Harrods names them. The solids are replicas of the stuffed bears they do each year.

smile.gif Well done Sandra.. smile.gif I think there is a question mark over the first one i.e. Rodney. The 150th Anniversary Bear I think is/was a Rodney. But.....when
I get a chance will check it out! (I know we all call the bear in the green coat Rodney).

Meanwhile I popped into Harrods today and had another look at the Bulldog
and Sentry. I agree with Margaret about Bulldog's eyes....otherwise, he
is very nice. Love the jewelled collar and when you open him up........ ph34r.gif ohmy.gif he has swallowed a bone!

As for the Sentry, hats off (or should I say Busby) to all who like him. I
have not changed my opinion but it's good that we all have different
tastes.

Looking forward to the new ones but not wishing my life away over a solid! laugh.gif

One thing as solid collectors we forget. Estee Lauder designs the perfume bear based on the design of the ANNUAL HARRODS COLLECTORS BEAR. Not vice versa.

Yes I will buy the bear. I would have bought the bulldog had it the Union Jack on it like a small doggie blanket.

As far as the Sentry goes-------I feel it belongs in the same catagory as the Barnyard----flat outright UGLY

I think you ought to get the bulldog anyway Ron - he is MUCH better than the pictures, blankie or no blankie.

Hi all,

I just returned from London back to Hong Kong after my honeymoon there rolleyes.gif

This is my very first visit to London and ... can you believe what is the first thing I wanted to do in London? Not sightseeing but to rush to Harrods to buy the Harrods exclusives solids! I do agree that I am disappointed in this year's solids (not only the Harrods), but anyhow, I bought the Nicolas bear (as the year 2005 is being imprinted onto it, which is the year of our marriage) just as a "souvenir"...

For those of you may be interested, that "20 year" on the bear foot is about this year being the 20th year that Harrods having the collector bear, and that means Nicolas is the 20th bear by Harrods.

Hope that helps.

Carmen from Hong Kong

Hi MitziMay, Sandra and Jacqueline and everyone else!

The 2001 Harrods bear is called Scott. The Rodney bear is named after Harrods longest serving doorman and he wears a little green vest. Harrods would be the ones to name them as it is originally their line of bears and EL have just recently started reproducing the little cuties as solids!

-thats my bit for the year! laugh.gif laugh.gif wink.gif
