Thomas The Newborn

"What's happening, Uncle Bob?" asked Giles and William together.
"We're off to New Yorlk tomorrow!!" shouted Rodney with glee - we're going to see the Lady Liberty!!
"oh no!!" thought the younger brothers - another girl for Thomas to get into trouble with! They were so worried that their brother had the 'Lady Bug' and that's why he kept getting upset.
However, they'd had a wow of a time at Don and Margaret's place and were glad they were coming along to New York and England with them. Perhaps they could help out with keeping an eye on little Thomas.

"Fasten your seat belts," the pilot announced over the intercom. The plane began to taxi down the runway. The pilot came over the intercom again, "Our scheduled arrival time at JFK is 1:30 p.m. It should be a smooth flight."
As the plane lifted off the runway, the bears' eyes were as big as saucers. Lola grasped little Thomas' paw in her hand and held it tightly.
When the plane was at a cruising altitude, Uncle Bob brought out a Champagne Bucket filled with a bottle of Bubbly. "Cheers," he said, as Margaret, Lola, and Don lifted their glass. The cubs, in the meantime, were happily devouring a slice of Cherry Pie. No champagne for them, only a glass of milk.
"How much longer is it to New York?" Thomas asked as he peered out the window.
"You'll be there before you know it, little squirt," Uncle Bob replied as he felt the plane start to descend.
The pilot came on the intercom again, "Fasten your seat belts, please. If you look to your right, you should be able to see the Statue of Liberty." As Lola strained to get a glimpse, she thought for a brief moment that Lady Liberty was holding a tube of lipstick rather than a torch. How silly of me, Lola thought to herself.
The group had a five-hour lay-over in the Big Apple before their flight to England ...

"Do you think it would be educational for the brothers to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art?" asked Aunt Lola.
"Well darl'in Lola, that's one of the best ideas you had yet!" exclaimed Uncle Bob. Don and Margaret also agreed as it's been a long time since they were at that Museum.
So the group took a Taxi to Fifth Avenue and 82nd Street to the Museum when they saw Mel Gibson walking. Margaret and Aunt Lola swooned and their husband had to catch them.
Rodney, William, Giles and Thomas had no idea what was going on. "Hey, what happened?"
Don explained that Mel Gibson was a famous person and that most women found him attractive just like little Thomas thought that Figi was exciting.
"Ohhhh, we get it, it's just like that pretty woman that everyone is staring at, right?" said the bears. "Who, Where?" said the men.
Then they noticed Kim Basinger on Fifth Avenue when the wives grabbed their hands and quickly hushed them into the Museum.
There were so many displays and Aunt Lola wanted to see the Egyptian Art first. They passed by the Suits and Armor Collection when Rodney, who was always reserved, became excited and asked Uncle Bob if he would buy him an Armor Suit.
"Please Uncle Bob, I want one of those!!!" Rodney begged. "Rodders, that is ancient art and only to be admired, it is not for sale" explained Uncle Bob.
"Come on, come on" hurriedly said Lola. "We don't have much time so let's get moving on."
So Rodney followed with disappointment, when Lola stopped in front the the SPHINX.
The group stared with admiration at this beautiful ancient Egyptian Art. Aunt Lola stared at it for another reason....

Meanwhile, the brothers were getting really bored with this Museum so Don and Margaret mentioned that they couldn't leave Manhattan without seeing the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center.
Everyone loved looking at the Twinking Tree and they even saw a Santa wearing ICE SKATES!
Well, it was getting late and if they didn't get back to JFK Airport, they would miss their plane to England.
So they rushed to find another Taxi and off to JFK they went and quickly boarded the Lear Jet to the U.K.

"What lovely husbands we have", the ladies said as Lola opened her Saks Hat box and Margaret opened up her Stuart Weitzman Princess Pump. So thoughtful they said as they kissed their respective hubby's on the cheek.
The fellas blushed as the Party Cake arrived for consumption with their bubbly.
The boys were being rowdy around the back end of the plane chasing each other on their pretend horses and wearing their Cowboy Hats they had got from Don's house in Texas.
As the plane approached London, everyone strained their necks and eyes peering out the window to catch a glimpse of the Harrods Palace on descent.

'Woweeeeeeeeee!' Don exclaimed excitedly. 'To think we gonna see our children soon. Woweeeeeeeee!' Margaret smiled back at him. 'Yes Don, and from what I've been hearing, it might even be a White Xmas too!'
'Welcome to England and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!' the pilot added, as the plane came to a shuddering halt!

"Hey! We're driving on the wrong side of the road!" exclaimed Rodney. He couldn't believe the buildings he saw - so GRAND and so OLD!!
It was frightening but exciting to a little bear!!
They stopped outside their glitzy hotel in Knightsbridge and stepped into the foyer where beautiful sounds were coming from a Grand Piano. "Oh my!" thought Rodney as he watched a Petit Four pass him by on the way to the someones table. Tea Pots and Tea Cups in lovely china everywhere!! He thought he would die from the opulence he saw.
Meanwhile, the other boys were paying no attention to their surroundings and were playing games with the doorman and the revolving door. 'Round and 'round they went while the doorman struggled with all the luggage.
Outside Don and Margaret waved goodbye to them as they stepped into an London Taxi to go see their daughter.

Margaret was looking out of the window when what should she see but a English Postbox by the curb. "Pull over" she said to the Taxi driver. "We need to mail our postcards home and I want to buy a Flower Bouquet for her new apartment". She was already missing the little Harrods Bears and wished she had had time to give them a big goodbye Bear Hug.
Meanwhile, back at their fancy hotel in Knightsbridge, the Harrods boys had already slipped away from Uncle Bob and Lola and were on their way into yet another "situation" that they would have to be extricated from. Thomas had stopped and was eyeing the giant christmas tree set up in the lobby of the hotel. The others could tell that trouble, with a capital T, was headed their way yet again.

Afterall, they knew that their Aunt and Uncle had confidence in Rodney, the eldest, to watch his brothers.
So to Covent Garden they went only to see wonderful attractions! They saw plenty of shops and restaurants, in which William wanted to stop and shop, but Rodney pulled his paw along with the rest of the group. "Hey, I have a couple of Pounds, why won't you let me shop?" whined William. "There's a toy CAROUSEL I want to buy!!!"
"Later William, later, we have plenty of time to go shopping" sternly anwered Rodney. "Thomas has never been here before, don't you want your baby brother to see Covent Garden?" Rodney went on.
Well, Thomas was in his glory watching the Street Performers when he saw a Man juggling balls!
Well, now all the brothers had to pull Thomas away as he was trying to catch the mans balls!

Thomas' eyes began to well up again . . . . plop, plop, plop they began. Big tears rolled down his face as he wanted to stay and play but kept getting dragged away. To him, this was the problem with the whole trip!! Everytime he was getting into a place, they were talking about leaving!! He couldn't wait to just go somewhere and stay a while.
"Poor Thomas", thought Rodney. "He keeps getting upset. This has been an adventure of a lifetime for us, but Thomas will never remember it like that. Still, we have a few more days to still make this a Christmas for him to remember".
Suddenly, Rodney had a brilliant idea!! He decided to go to Harrods for Thomas to see all the other little bears that looked like him!! Surely that would make him happy . . . or would it?
He took his youngest brother into his arms for a big bear hug. Giles and William in the meantime had run over to a stall where they saw a Jack-in-a-box . They delighted in it and decided they would get one for Thomas for Christmas. He could put it in his Toy Wagon !
On their way back to Rodney and William, they passed a busker playing Christmas tunes on the Violin. This got them in the spirit and all four teddies walked off happily, arm in arm.
As they walked towards the tube station, Thomas spotted a golden spaniel puppy! "I want one, I want one!" he shouted as he pointed and then chased it. "Oh my Lord!" thought Rodney as he chased after Thomas . . .

Aunt Lola and Uncle Bob were quite relieved to see the boys on their return. 'Well, so what didya think of your little trip?' Uncle Bob asked enthusiastically. 'We loved it!' William and Giles replied. 'Yes, and I did too!' Thomas piped up, slightly miffed that he hadn't answered first. 'Well I think'' Aunt Lola began, 'you should all order a bite to eat in your room and have a good night's sleep. Tomorrow we will take you to HARRODS PALACE and that is going to be a very tiring day!' 'Yep!' Uncle Bob nodded his head, 'you are gonna love it there and if you are good you can have a DREAMY DESSERT with lots of ice cream and hot chocolate sauce and CHERRY PIE and, and .....................!' Bob winked at Lola. 'Now go on boys. Up to your room and we'll look in later to say goodnight! If you behave, Aunt Lola might read you some more from the ROMANTIC EDITION but........' 'Oh Noooooooo! Oh Noooooooo!' this time Rodney joined in! They had had enough of Nod and Clod...........meanwhile Thomas had other ideas!

Thomas walked along several blocks until he finally stopped in front of a pair of large wooden doors. As his gaze drifted upward, he noticed an old painted sign hanging over the doors on a brass pole. The sign read "The Horse You Came In On." Thomas thought this name was intriguing and maybe this was the adventure he was looking for. Suddenly, the wooden doors swung open and Thomas walked into a smoke-filled English Pub ...
